Downtown Sounds kicks off tonight with Polecat

Downtown Bellingham Partnership celebrates 15 years of free shows

Happy birthday to Downtown Sounds! My, how you’ve grown. I remember watching the first show set up in the alley next to the Wild Buffalo. Now DTS covers two blocks centered at Bay and Prospect Streets, one of which is 99% beer garden.

In addition to the onsite beer and food vendors, several nearby establishments are offering Downtown Sounds specials this summer.

The Cabin has added a Wednesday night taco night (don’t worry, Thursday is still taco night too!), the Wild Buffalo has half-price wells and drafts/$2 off cocktails until 10pm, and Bayou on Bay has late dinner service, half price refreshers, and $1 oyster shots. And if you just want to hit up happy hour before the show, check out the downtown happy hour list. The Cabin, Temple Bar, Jack’s, and the Grand are all within a block of the action.

Here’s the season lineup. Shows are at Prospect and Bay Streets and start at 5:30pm.

July 10: Polecat & Friends (Bluegrass/Americana)

July 17:  Rebirth Brass Band w/ Raincity (Brass Band/Funk)

July 24: Orchestra Zarabanda w/ Bilongo Quintet & Sabrina Gomez (Salsa/Cuban/Jazz)

July 31: Sepiatonic w/ Analog Brass (Electro-Vaudeville-Dance Party/Brass-House)

August 7: Monophonics w/ Willdabeast (Soul)
